The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against retired judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh in a case pertaining to the death of Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old model-turned-actor. The chargesheet was filed under sections related to dowry death, matrimonial cruelty, abetment to suicide, common criminal intention, and provisions of the Dowry Prevention Act. Samarth Singh, who is the accused in this case, was arrested on May 22 from Jabalpur city, while Giribala Singh was arrested on May 28 after the High Court quashed her anticipatory bail. Both are currently in judicial custody.
According to the first information report, Samarth Singh claimed that Sharma had hung herself at home before taking her to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhopal on May 12. However, a doctor at the institute told the police that Sharma was brought dead, after which a medico-legal case was registered.
