Following the announcement by the Cockroach Janta Party of their intentions to inspect government schools in several districts across Rajasthan, the state government has restricted outsiders from entering school campuses without prior permission. The BJP government has also prohibited photography, videography, interviews, audio recording or live streaming of students, teachers or school activities without the principal's approval.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Rajasthan has imposed restrictions on the entry of outsiders into state-run schools without permission. This move comes after the Cockroach Janta Party announced that they will visit several districts to inspect the conditions of government schools as part of a nationwide drive to improve their status.
The campaign, which has been sharing videos of schools on social media recorded by its volunteers in several states, urged people to tag them if there are dilapidated schools in their city or village that the administration is not addressing. The Cockroach Janta Party's co-convener Ashutosh Ranka said they would 'get the schools of our children fixed, come what may!'
The Cockroach Janta Party has requested access to schools in several locations including Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Dholpur, Bharatpur, Kotra, Badmer, and Hanumangarh. However, the administration has not been addressing their requests.
In response to this, the Rajasthan government has stated that no outsider, except on-duty government officials, will be allowed to enter school campuses without permission from the principal. Photography, videography, interviews, audio recording, or live streaming of students, teachers, or school activities will also not be permitted without the principal's approval.
The order further directs school authorities to ensure that no photograph, video, or personal information of a student is collected, published, or disseminated without the consent of their parents or guardians. School principals have been empowered to deny entry to visitors, and the police should be informed if anyone refuses to leave the premises or attempts unauthorized photography or videography.
Earlier this month, hearing- and speech-impaired students of a government school in Jaipur held a protest over poor infrastructure and lack of basic facilities. The principal of Government Seth Anandilal Poddar Senior Secondary School was subsequently suspended.
