At least 95 persons died in a flash flood and mudslide in Nepal, according to the police. Over 100 Indian tourists are missing amidst a total of 291 foreign citizens who have not yet been traced.

A devastating flash flood and mudslide in Nepal has claimed the lives of at least 95 persons as per police reports. The incident occurred in the Rasuwa district along Nepal’s border with China, where more than 100 Indian tourists are currently missing. This is part of a total of 291 foreign citizens who have not yet been traced. The mountainous district, located about 120 km north of Kathmandu, was swept away by the flood along the Bhotekoshi river. Roads and bridges were damaged in the disaster, and the cause of the flood is yet to be established. The search and rescue operation is ongoing.

In a separate development, the Donald Trump administration in the United States has paused immigrant visa appointments globally. Consular officials are undergoing training to identify applicants who may become dependent on public benefits. Applicants scheduled for interviews have been informed that their appointments will be rescheduled. The US State Department stated that the training aims to ensure visa applications are assessed 'comprehensively and consistently'.
