Dr. Mohan Yadav will lay foundation stone for a grand temple in Omkareshwar following ancient architectural traditions. The temple will be dedicated to Lord Shiva and four other deities.

On August 27, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the 'Panchayatan' Temple at 'Ekatm Dham' in Omkareshwar at 6 AM. This grand temple construction involves representatives of India’s revered monastic tradition, saints from the Shaddarshan Sant Mandal, and distinguished guests. The sacred Shila Poojan ceremony will be conducted through Vedic rituals by Acharyas from three prominent institutions: Sri Venkateshwara Veda Vijnana Peetham, Dharmagiri, Andhra Pradesh, Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Karnataka, and Sri Sri Gurukul.

The main shrine of the temple will be dedicated to Lord Shiva. Four subsidiary shrines at the corners will house Lord Vishnu in the northeast, Lord Surya in the southeast, Lord Ganesha in the southwest, and Bhagwati Shakti in the northwest.

The main shrine will feature a Somatilak-style shikhara, while the sanctum sanctorum will follow the Sarvatobhadra design, with entrances on all four sides. The temple complex will feature 100 artistically carved pillars and eight miniature Samvarnas (Samarana). Grand entrance toranas will further enhance the architectural beauty. The main mandapa will feature a magnificent 26-foot-diameter dome, which will be one of the temple’s key architectural highlights.

The entire temple will stand on a 16-foot-high Jagati, or raised platform. Its exterior vertical architectural composition, or Mandovar, will feature an intricate arrangement of Bhadra, Karna, Pratiratha, Devakoshtha and ornamental panels. The entire temple will be adorned with 121 kalashas.

Around 80,000 cubic feet of intricately carved pink sandstone is being used in its construction. The Panchayatan Temple will not only serve as a centre of religious faith but will also showcase the revival of India’s ancient architectural and sculptural traditions.
