The Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed ongoing diplomatic and military efforts to prevent misunderstandings along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China. The two nations have agreed to discuss ways to improve understanding of LAC in specific areas to ensure better border management.
According to Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, instances of border disturbances occur when Chinese forces deviate from established patrolling patterns. In a statement today, the Ministry clarified that India and China continue to use existing diplomatic and military mechanisms to resolve outstanding issues and avoid potential miscalculations along the LAC.
In addition to this, Mr Jaiswal emphasized that maintaining peace and tranquillity in the border areas is crucial for the overall development of bilateral relations.
On a related note, New Delhi continues to facilitate the transport of life-saving medicines to Iran amidst regional conflicts that have impacted flight connectivity between the two nations. India remains in communication with Iranian authorities to ensure the delivery of these medicines as a humanitarian gesture.
Furthermore, Mr Jaiswal confirmed that fourteen Indian nationals involved in a yacht incident off the Yemen coast are safe and the Ministry has been in touch with relevant parties there. The Ministry remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of Indians abroad. Approximately 3000 stranded Umrah pilgrims have returned from Saudi Arabia on available flights, with discussions ongoing for facilitating the return of other pilgrims at the earliest. Indian Embassy and Consulate in Saudi Arabia are providing support to those still stranded.
Lastly, all defence exports by India comply with national obligations, laws, and guidelines.
