The Calcutta High Court has reduced the investigation timeline for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the R G Kar Hospital rape and murder case from four weeks to three weeks, following a report submitted by the CBI today.
The Calcutta High Court, presided by Justice Shampa Sarkar and Justice Tirthankar Ghosh, has accelerated the timeline for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conclude its investigation into the R G Kar Hospital rape and murder case. Initially, the CBI was given a four-week deadline to complete the probe. However, today, they submitted a report related to the case before the bench, which prompted the court to set aside their plea for an extension of the timeline. As a result, the investigation must now be completed within three weeks.
The next hearing in this case is scheduled for 24th September. It should be noted that a PGT second year doctor was raped and murdered at the hospital in August 2024. Previously, the court had convicted Sanjoy Roy in this case and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
