The death toll in the flash flood and mudslide in Nepal has risen to 586 as reported by The Hindu. The Nepal Tourism Board states that over 4,400 people have been rescued, with 98 Indian tourists still missing.

According to a report by The Hindu, the death toll due to the flash flood and mudslide in Nepal has increased to 586 on Friday. This marks an increase of over 170 deaths since the initial incident.

The Nepal Tourism Board has also reported that as many as 183 Indian tourists went missing following the floods, of which 85 have been found. In total, 743 tourists have gone missing, including 149 Nepali citizens.

In an update provided by AFP, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has estimated that as many as 93,000 persons may have been affected by the deluge. The IFRC further stated that the toll is expected to rise.

The floods occurred in the Rasuwa district along Nepal’s northern border with China on Wednesday. This mountainous district, located approximately 120 km north of Kathmandu, received no rainfall prior to the disaster. Consequently, residents were not issued a warning about the impending deluge.
