Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated his readiness for negotiations with the United States, emphasizing the need for mutual commitment. He also highlighted Iran's significant oil exports during the agreement's implementation.
In a recent TV interview, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed his willingness to negotiate with the United States, provided that both parties adhere to their commitments. According to the interview, diplomatic efforts could potentially focus on reviving the June peace memorandum of understanding (MoU).
Pezeshkian underscored that Iran exported approximately 90 million barrels of oil during the implementation of the agreement.
The economic pressures faced by Iran at home were also addressed in the interview. In a separate message, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei emphasized the need for 'serious' attention to economic and livelihood challenges such as inflation, unemployment, and market management.
Khamenei further advocated for increased reliance on domestic production, while suggesting that imports should be used 'properly and wisely' when necessary. The US and Iran signed the deal on June 18 with the aim of ending the war in the region, including Lebanon. The MoU stipulated negotiations within a 60-day timeframe, with the deadline falling on August 17.
However, the future of these negotiations remains uncertain following recent escalations in tensions between the two nations.
