The Ministry of Rural Development is preparing to launch DDU-GKY 2.0 across most states and union territories by October 2026. Review meetings have been held with 14 states, and a total of 5.6 lakh targets have been allocated towards over 1,200 projects.

The Ministry of Rural Development is set to implement the updated version of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya- Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) across most states and union territories from October 2026. The ministry has reviewed the preparedness for this with 14 states in the first phase, including Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Puducherry, Karnataka, Telangana, and Bihar.

The preparations for the program include the allocation of 5.6 lakh targets towards more than 1,200 projects by 24 states and union territories. Other states are in the advanced stages of target allocation.

A total of 1,164 training batches are scheduled to commence in October 2026, with a target to train 34,920 rural youth against the sanctioned target of 3,57,112 rural youth to be trained by 31st December 2027 in these 14 states.

The Ministry emphasized that this is a crucial phase for state action and called upon implementing states to accelerate the allocation of targets to Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) and commence batches as per envisaged timelines. The ministry also highlighted that the DDU-GKY 2.0 Integrated Portal is equipped to facilitate end-to-end project life cycle, promoting greater efficiency, transparency, and digital monitoring.
