The Indian Railways has approved the provision of indigenously developed Kavach Version 4.0 on 607.7 Route Kilometres of the Lucknow Division at a total cost of ₹252 crore, aiming to modernise train protection systems and enhance safety.
In an effort to bolster railway safety through indigenous technology, Indian Railways has taken a significant step by approving the provision of Kavach Version 4.0 on 607.7 Route Kilometres of the Lucknow Division of North Eastern Railway at a total cost of ₹252 crore.
With this approved project, Kavach 4.0 coverage will be extended across the remaining sections of the division, reinforcing the safety infrastructure for train operations.
Kavach, an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, is designed to boost operational safety by preventing Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD), automatically applying brakes when necessary and ensuring safer train movement through monitoring train operations.
This initiative forms part of the broader endeavour by Indian Railways to deploy Kavach across its network as a means to modernise train protection systems and elevate the safety and reliability of railway operations.
