On September 19, 2026, Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, addressed the 20 Rozgar Mela in Chennai. He congratulated the newly appointed government employees and their families, emphasizing the importance of approaching public service with integrity, empathy, responsibility, and a commitment to continuous learning. Dr. Pemmasani shared his journey from a modest family background to becoming a doctor, entrepreneur, and public representative, encouraging the newly appointed employees to seek guidance from experienced colleagues and make effective use of digital learning resources and AI tools.
During his speech, Dr. Pemmasani also emphasized the human dimension of government service. He urged employees not to allow routine administrative work to diminish their sense of purpose, as a file that may seem mundane to an employee could represent an important aspect of a citizen's life.
Moreover, he spoke about India’s transformation since 2014 under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He highlighted changes in governance, infrastructure, technology, and public service delivery, including the expansion of mobile manufacturing, improvement of connectivity through Vande Bharat trains and railway station redevelopment, and growth of indigenous defence production.
Dr. Pemmasani concluded his address by urging the newly appointed employees to continuously reflect on whether they are living up to the trust placed in them by the country, their families, and the citizens they serve.
