The Allahabad High Court has temporarily halted the suspension of teacher Mohammed Anzar Ahmad while an investigation into allegations of compelling students to participate in Islamic religious practices is underway. The enquiry, ordered by the Sambhal administration in May, was directed by the court to be expedited.

On September 7, the Allahabad High Court issued an order to temporarily halt the suspension of Mohammed Anzar Ahmad, a teacher in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district. The decision came as part of a hearing on Ahmad's plea challenging his suspension order that was initiated in May due to allegations of coercing students to engage in Islamic religious practices at a government school.

According to Bar and Bench, the videos of students wearing religious attire were widely circulated online, leading to the Sambhal administration's investigation. The enquiry, which was ordered in May, involves allegations that Ahmad had forced girl students to wear hijabs and boys to don skull caps, as well as encouraging students to recite a Urdu verse by Muhammad Iqbal before morning prayers.

In the order passed on September 7, the court directed that the enquiry against Ahmad be concluded at the earliest, preferably within 15 days. It is noteworthy that another teacher was also suspended for failing to inform senior officials about the alleged incident. In his plea, Ahmad denied the accusations, asserting that he was on medical leave at the time the incident occurred.
