Belgium's Prime Minister Bart De Wever will visit India from September 2nd to 4th for bilateral talks and discussions on regional and global issues. This will be his first visit since taking office in February 2025.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, has invited the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, H.E. Mr. Bart De Wever, for an official visit to India from September 2nd to 4th, 2026. Accompanying him will be the Belgian Minister of Defence, H.E. Mr. Theo Francken. This marks De Wever's first visit to India since he assumed office in February 2025.
During his visit, De Wever is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Modi on September 3rd. The discussions will encompass the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and regional and global issues of mutual interest. Additionally, De Wever will deliver a keynote address at a Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) business event in relation to the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
Subsequently, De Wever will travel to Mumbai where he plans to engage with various stakeholders including those from the diamond, ports & logistics sectors.
The visit aims to strengthen the India-Belgium partnership and advance cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, defence and security, technology, renewable energy, connectivity, and people-to-people ties. It also seeks to further deepen India-EU and India-Europe engagement.
