A staffer at the Bihar Chief Minister's office has been booked for posting a photo of a molested minor girl on the Chief Minister's official account.
The Bihar Police has registered a first information report against Sagar Prasad, a stenographer in the chief minister’s office, for uploading an unblurred photo of a molested minor girl and her family members on the chief minister’s official account on social media platform X. The photo was posted during a meeting between the girl and the chief minister at his official residence in Patna.
According to The Hindu, the photo was deleted within 15 minutes of being posted. The police alleged that Prasad uploaded the photo on the social media platform. The viral nature of the post compromised the privacy and dignity of the minor victim and her family, creating a situation where the victim’s identity is at risk of exposure, as stated by the police.
The police also named other persons and social media accounts in the case for allegedly forwarding or sharing the post. An additional case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act against those involved in sharing videos of the two minors.
Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav had accused Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary of revealing the identity of the teen, saying that it violated the 2012 Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
