The BJP won 90 out of 104 seats across three municipalities and one municipal corporation in Gujarat, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah announced that the BJP has secured a resounding victory in the elections held in three municipalities and one municipal corporation in Gujarat. In the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, which falls within his Parliamentary Constituency, the BJP won 38 out of 44 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party, which contested all 32 seats, forfeited its security deposit on every seat. This victory in Gujarat, according to Mr Shah, reflects the mood of the state’s voters and demonstrates that the electorate of Gujarat stands as a rock behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In addition, Mr Shah stated that the BJP also achieved a resounding victory in the local body elections held in Rajasthan. The party won 90 percent of the municipal corporations, 66 percent of the municipal councils, and 65 percent of the municipalities.
When referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Mr Shah said that the Congress party has not won a single election in 41 years. He suggested that the Congress party should introspect instead of dismissing the popularity of the BJP and Prime Minister Modi by attributing it to an ‘SIR’.
