The 21-nation BRICS business community celebrated its 20th anniversary on September 11, 2026. The forum highlighted the group's significance in terms of population, GDP, and trade, and emphasized collaboration to foster innovation, resilience, cooperation, and sustainability.

The leaders of the BRICS business community gathered for the annual forum on September 11, 2026, with a warm welcome extended by India as the host nation. Initially comprising four countries, today, BRICS includes twenty-one nations when partners are included.

BRICS countries represent 50% of the world’s population, 40% of global GDP, and over 25% of global trade. Over these years, while global GDP has grown by approximately 2.5 times, the combined GDP of BRICS countries has grown by around 4.5 times.

The economic strength of BRICS has developed at nearly twice the pace of the world economy. This growth underscores the significance of the group in terms of global economics.

Innovation is another area where BRICS countries are making strides. From grassroots initiatives to frontier technologies, new possibilities for innovation are taking shape across member nations. The BRICS Business Forum being held in India is the largest-ever edition.

India's Presidency theme for this year is ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.’ Over the past twelve years, India has diversified and strengthened supply chains in key sectors such as energy and technology to ensure resilience amid global uncertainties.

Infrastructure expansion is also a priority. India is rapidly expanding its roads, railways, ports, and airports. Additionally, new capabilities are being built in strategic sectors like shipbuilding, semiconductors, quantum technology, critical minerals, and biotechnology.
