Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat addressed the BRICS Cultural Festival at Rabindra Bhavan in Bhopal during the Third Meeting of the BRICS Ministers of Culture. The minister highlighted the historical and cultural significance of Madhya Pradesh, which has, for centuries, served as a confluence of civilizations, ideas, faiths, and artistic traditions.
The State's rich heritage was reflected in various sites such as the prehistoric rock shelters at Bhimbetka, the serenity of Sanchi, the magnificent temples of Khajuraho, and the vibrant tribal communities of Madhya Pradesh. The minister observed that these sites beautifully illustrate the continuity of India's civilizational journey.
Emphasizing Indian philosophies of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (The World Is One Family) and 'Atithi Devo Bhava' (The Guest Is God), Shri Shekhawat stated that hospitality is not merely a social courtesy in India but a cherished civilizational value.
He noted that while BRICS nations may differ in language, history, and artistic traditions, music and art constitute the universal language of humanity. The minister believed that these cultural elements foster friendship, peace, and hope across civilizations.
The cultural evening commenced with the universal prayer 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah' (May All Be Happy), a message of universal well-being that is particularly relevant in today's global context. Welcoming delegates to Bhopal, the heartland of India, Shri Shekhawat expressed confidence that the visit would further strengthen cultural ties and mutual understanding among BRICS family members.
The BRICS Cultural Festival celebrated the ideals of world peace, cultural dialogue, and global harmony through various performances. Renowned artists from India and other BRICS countries showcased the spirit of unity in diversity through captivating musical and dance numbers.
The 32-minute special musical presentation began with an invocation of 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah', followed by 'Colours of Indian Music', which beautifully blended the rich traditions of Hindustani and Carnatic classical music. The highlight of the evening was the 'BRICS Peace Song', in which artists from BRICS nations conveyed the universal message of peace, friendship, and global harmony through their respective musical traditions.
The programme concluded with collective performances of 'Peace to All, Harmony to All' and 'Crescendo of Unity.'
A unique confluence of BRICS musical traditions was featured in the 'BRICS Peace Song', which included artists from Belarus, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.
The Indian choir added a unique cultural dimension by rendering 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah' in the language of each participating country, symbolizing cultural dialogue and global unity.
