The 11th BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting took place today in Bhopal under India's chairmanship. During the meeting, the Bhopal Declaration was adopted, aiming to bolster cultural collaboration among BRICS member countries and partners. Participants included representatives from 14 nations, consisting of 10 BRICS members and four partner states. Discussions centered around promoting cultural and creative industries, increasing opportunities for artists, and leveraging digital platforms to facilitate wider market reach. The delegates also focused on protecting and restoring cultural heritage, which was identified as a significant aspect of the Bhopal Declaration. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat addressed a press conference, stating that Bhopal had provided a progressive framework for cultural cooperation. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding traditional knowledge, languages, folk music, and cultural traditions for future generations. Mr Shekhawat also highlighted the emphasis on Madhya Pradesh’s culture and heritage during the meeting, stressing the need for global collaboration to preserve these cultural legacies.
