The 11th BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting, held under India’s chairmanship in Bhopal, adopted the Bhopal Declaration with an aim to strengthen cultural cooperation among participating nations.
The meeting saw attendance from representatives of 14 countries, consisting of 10 BRICS members and four partner countries. The participants deliberated on strategies for fostering cultural and creative industries, placing a particular emphasis on expanding opportunities for artists and utilizing digital platforms to broaden their reach. Moreover, the protection and restoration of cultural heritage emerged as a significant concern. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat accentuated the importance of preserving traditional knowledge, languages, folk music, and cultural traditions for future generations. He pointed out that during the meeting, special attention was given to Madhya Pradesh’s culture and heritage. Mr. Shekhawat emphasized the necessity for global collaboration in safeguarding these cultural traditions.
