The 11th BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting, held in Bhopal under India's BRICS Chairship, adopted the Bhopal Declaration. This declaration aimed at strengthening cultural cooperation among BRICS member and partner countries. Representatives from 14 countries, including 10 BRICS members and four partner states, took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, discussions were held on promoting cultural and creative industries. A significant focus was placed on utilizing digital platforms to broaden artists' market reach. Protecting and preserving cultural heritage emerged as a key concern. Additionally, delegates discussed ways to create more opportunities for artists.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat addressed a press conference post-meeting, highlighting Bhopal as a platform for providing a practical and forward-looking framework for cultural cooperation. He emphasized the importance of preserving traditional knowledge, languages, folk music, and cultural traditions for future generations. Special focus was given to the culture and heritage of Madhya Pradesh during the discussions.
Shekhawat also stressed that all countries should collaborate in protecting these cultural traditions.
