Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav addressing the Balram Agriculture Festival

Dr. Mohan Yadav urges farmers to adopt advanced agricultural practices, enhance productivity, and diversify activities through an integrated action plan.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav addressed the Balram Agriculture Festival virtually from Jabalpur on Saturday, emphasizing that the event is not merely a gathering but a comprehensive campaign to connect farmers with modern technology and scientific farming practices. He described Harda as the leading agricultural district in Madhya Pradesh due to its fertile Bhuaana region and the enriching effects of the Narmada River.

Harda has emerged as a major producer of moong, soybean, wheat, and green chillies, and the Government is working to extend irrigation facilities to every corner of the district. Dr. Yadav stated that an integrated action plan involving 16 departments is being implemented to enhance farmers' incomes through diversified agricultural activities.

In addition to traditional crops, the Government is promoting dairy, fisheries, animal husbandry, horticulture, vegetable cultivation, spices, and floriculture. Natural farming and modern agricultural technologies are also being encouraged across the state. The Chief Minister announced that farmers would receive electricity for irrigation during the daytime following the current monsoon season.

To improve soil health, Dr. Yadav urged farmers to get their soil tested and cultivate crops according to soil health, minimising the use of chemical fertilisers and gradually adopting natural and organic farming practices. He also encouraged crop diversification rather than relying on a single crop, stating that this would improve soil health, increase farm incomes, and introduce greater diversity in agricultural production.

The Government has taken significant decisions for farmers' welfare under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The Madhya Pradesh Government has set a target to raise the contribution of milk production from the current 9 per cent to 20 per cent to further increase farmers' incomes.

At the Balram Agriculture Festival, experts shared scientific farming practices, agricultural scientists provided practical guidance on balanced fertiliser use, and cultural performances and technical sessions educated farmers about advanced agricultural technologies and best farming practices.
