Through advancements in irrigation projects, agricultural production, natural farming, Shri Anna production, and cattle conservation, Rewa is experiencing a significant boost in its agricultural sector.
In a video conference from Mantralaya on Monday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav addressed farmers participating in the Balaram Krishi Mahotsav in Rewa. The Chief Minister highlighted Rewa's strong standing in agriculture, particularly horticulture and natural farming, which is integral to the district’s economy.
The hard work and dedication of farmers have led to substantial production of paddy, wheat, gram, lentil, linseed, and soybean. These advancements have given a new impetus to Rewa’s economy.
Work on the Sleemanabad Tunnel is progressing towards completion. Upon its completion, Narmada water will reach the agricultural fields of Rewa, enhancing irrigation and drinking water facilities in the region.
Upon completion of irrigation projects in Teonthar, Lohi, Sirmour, and Semariya, approximately 1.32 lakh hectares of land in Rewa district will receive irrigation facilities.
The state government also announced that it would provide free registered ownership documents to all patta holders whose land allotment documents do not yet have a formal registry. The registration cost for 50 lakh such pattas is estimated at around ₹4,000 crore.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav interacted with public representatives and four progressive farmers from the district to learn about their experiences with innovative farming practices beyond traditional agriculture. Farmers reported that mechanised and technology-based farming, natural farming using organic manure, and crop diversification have proved beneficial.
A 1,000-hectare area in Rewa is being developed as a natural farming cluster to promote natural farming. Basaman Mama Gau-Abhyaranya is emerging as a major centre for cattle conservation and rural self-reliance. The Natural Farming Training Centre operating there assists farmers in learning and adopting Jeevamrit, Ghan Jeevamrit, and modern techniques of natural farming.
Rewa is also making progress in Shri Anna production. Under the State Millet Mission, the cultivation of millet crops such as Kodo and Kutki is being expanded to promote crop diversification. This not only increases farmers' incomes but also strengthens nutritional security for families.
