Dr. Mohan Yadav reviews the progress of road-widening works and construction of a new road, appreciating residents' cooperation towards city development and preparations for the anticipated influx of millions of devotees.
On Sunday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav embarked on a walking tour of Ujjain city to inspect various ongoing development and construction works for the Simhastha Mahaparv-2028. The focus was primarily on the road-widening work from Neelganga to KTM Gall India Square and the construction of a new road from Shantinagar to Indore Road.
During his inspection, Dr. Yadav reviewed the progress with officials at the site and emphasized prioritizing projects crucial for Simhastha to ensure their completion within the stipulated timeframe. He also directed them to accord priority to the main route to Baba Mahakal Temple, running from Sindhi Colony Square to Nanakheda Bus Stand, an essential path through the city heart, connecting the old city with the new city via an elevated bridge.
While touring the city, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav interacted with local residents along the route. Residents welcomed him with a shower of flowers. He shook hands with children and encouraged them, while appreciating the cooperation extended by local residents towards the development of the city. The chief minister acknowledged that citizens had voluntarily set back their houses for road widening, reflecting Ujjain's rich heritage and residents' dedication to development.
Citizens have also willingly shifted their temples to facilitate the development works. Local residents have made their houses, land, and shops available for the road-widening work, contributing significantly to the government's development efforts.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav expressed that even in areas where houses and shops are being affected by development works, residents welcome the efforts with flowers, reflecting Ujjain's large-heartedness and positive attitude towards development.
He emphasized that crores of devotees would visit Ujjain during the Simhastha Mahaparv, making it essential to ensure convenience and adequate arrangements for them. Ensuring their convenience and making adequate arrangements is not only the responsibility of the government but also of every section of society.
The number of devotees visiting Ujjain, the city of Mahakal, has been continuously increasing every year. Earlier, around 60 to 70 lakh devotees visited Ujjain annually, whereas approximately 8 crore devotees visited the city last year. This year, the number of devotees is expected to cross 12 crore.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that keeping the increasing number of devotees and the Simhastha Mahaparv in view, the government was developing the necessary infrastructure and facilities with full commitment. Large-scale development works are being undertaken to expand roads, traffic management, connectivity and other basic infrastructure so that better facilities can be provided to devotees as well as local residents.
