On Thursday, Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, inspected the under-construction Reptile Park (Snake Park) and Research Centre in Ujjain. During the inspection, he emphasized the need for training Home Guard personnel in safely capturing and rescuing snakes due to their prevalence in residential areas across the State.
The Chief Minister's directive aims to ensure public safety while facilitating the safe rescue of snakes from residential areas. He believes this initiative will promote wildlife conservation and help alleviate fear among the public.
In addition, Dr. Yadav reviewed the progress of the Reptile Park and Research Centre being developed in the Basant Vihar area under the Smart City Project. The project includes modern facilities such as a visitor zone, exhibition galleries, a veterinary hospital, post-mortem facility, interpretation centre, research centre, education centre, state-of-the-art rescue centre, and a dedicated Snake Park for educational purposes.
The Reptile Park is designed to promote a positive public understanding of snakes and other reptiles by educating visitors about the ecological importance of most snake species and their role in maintaining biodiversity. It will also provide opportunities for scientific study, conserve endangered species, protect their natural habitats, and promote biodiversity.
