Dr. Mohan Yadav, Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister, paid floral tributes to the late former Chief Minister, Govind Narayan Singh, at the State Legislative Assembly's Central Hall on Saturday.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav honored the late former Chief Minister Govind Narayan Singh on his birth anniversary in a ceremony held at the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly's Central Hall on Saturday. The event was attended by Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, other public representatives, and members of the late former Chief Minister’s family.

Dr. Yadav emphasized that politics' primary purpose is not just to gain power but to serve society. He urged the younger generation to draw inspiration from Govind Narayan Singh's values of service, dedication, and integrity. Known for his simple lifestyle and approachable nature, the former Chief Minister’s close connection with the people was his greatest strength.

Dr. Yadav noted that the former Chief Minister understood rural communities' and ordinary citizens' problems at close quarters, making him a guiding force for society through his ideals. He highlighted Govind Narayan Singh’s style of public service as an inspiration for elected representatives and described his life as embodying honesty, perseverance, and service to the nation.

Dr. Yadav stated that Govind Narayan Singh became Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister in 1967 when the state’s politics was undergoing a significant transformation. He worked towards promoting administrative accountability and placing public welfare at the center of governance, also strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring that governance reflected the aspirations of the people.

Late Govind Narayan Singh was born on 25 July 1920 in Rampur Baghelan. After completing his M.A. and LL.B., he began his public and political career. He served as Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister from 30 July 1967 to 12 March 1969 during the Fourth Legislative Assembly (1967–1972).
