Vikram Udyogpuri industrial area in Ujjain

Dr. Mohan Yadav inspects Vikram Udyogpuri, reviews industrial development projects, and emphasizes employment opportunities for locals. The inspection reveals ongoing projects, investments, and employment figures.

India's Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inspected the Vikram Udyogpuri industrial area in Ujjain on Thursday to review the progress of ongoing and proposed industrial development projects. The Chief Minister emphasised that industries being established should prioritise employment opportunities for local farmers and rural residents. He also encouraged farmers to cultivate crops needed by industrial units to increase farm income while ensuring easy access to raw materials for industries.

During his visit, the Chief Minister was briefed on ongoing projects by Executive Director of the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC), Shri Rajesh Rathore. The Chief Minister inspected a state-of-the-art food processing facility of PepsiCo India Limited, established with an investment of approximately ₹1,266 crore. The project is expected to generate around 800 direct jobs and create numerous indirect employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the construction of a Working Women Hostel in the industrial area at a cost of ₹50.05 crore, which will provide accommodation for nearly 1,500 women employed in the industrial sector.

Ujjain Collector Shri Roshan Kumar Singh reported that over the past two and a half years, land has been allotted to 246 new industrial units in the district. These projects are expected to attract investments of approximately ₹16,150 crore and generate more than 14,500 direct employment opportunities.

Vikram Udyogpuri, developed over an area of nearly 773 acres, has so far allotted 94 plots, with an expected investment of around ₹6,480 crore. At the Medical Device Park, spread across 360 acres, land has been allotted to 74 industrial units, with proposed investments of approximately ₹2,894 crore.

In view of the growing demand from industries, Vikram Udyogpuri Phase-II is being developed over 488 hectares. Land has already been allotted to leading companies, including Alkem Laboratories, Adani Group, and Volvo Eicher. These projects are expected to bring investments of nearly ₹4,800 crore, while proposals worth over ₹15,000 crore have also been received from more than 35 other industrial units.
