The Delhi government has approved the DURGA scheme aimed at providing safe, clean, and dignified employment opportunities to women and transgender persons in the capital. Here are important details about the initiative.
The Delhi Government has taken a significant step towards empowering women and transgender persons in the capital by approving the DURGA scheme during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today. The primary objective of this scheme is to provide safe, clean, and dignified employment opportunities through the allocation of 1,300 pink electric autos.
Under the DURGA scheme, 1,170 electric autos will be reserved for women beneficiaries, while 130 will be allocated for transgender individuals in the first phase. The Chief Minister has announced that a maximum of 90 electric autos for women and up to 10 electric autos for transgender beneficiaries will be distributed in each revenue district.
The DURGA scheme is an initiative towards making Delhi a safer, greener, and more inclusive city. By becoming owners and drivers of these electric autos, women and transgender persons can contribute to the city's environmental sustainability efforts while also securing employment opportunities.
