The Department of Pharmaceuticals has commenced the active implementation phase of Gandhi Jayanti campaign, following a preparatory phase from September 15–30, 2026.

On October 2, 2026, the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) and its attached organizations, including the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPERs), and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), officially commenced the active implementation phase of Gandhi Jayanti campaign. This comes after a successful preparatory phase from September 15–30, 2026, during which baseline targets, site identifications, and record inventories were completed.

The Department has set several targets for this campaign. In terms of Cleanliness Campaigns, 12,208 cleanliness and outstation office drives are scheduled across organizational units. Regarding Pendency & Grievance Redressal Targets, active resolution tracking is underway for various references including 4 MP references, 2 Parliamentary Assurances, 1 Inter-Ministerial Cabinet proposal, 58 State Government references, 2 PMO references, 72 Public Grievances (CPGRAMS), 18 Public Grievance Appeals, and 20 Easing of Rules/Process items.

Additionally, the Department aims to review 2,716 physical files and 20 e-files to optimize workspace and streamline documentation. For Scientific E-Waste Management, the department targets systematic disposal of obsolete equipment, including 602 units of IT & telecommunication equipment, 196 consumer electrical/electronic & photovoltaic units, 53 large/small electrical appliances, 5 laboratory instruments, 154 other electronic assets, and electrical tools. The disposal will comply with E-Waste Management Rules.

The Department also plans to liquidate pendencies swiftly, close public grievances, parliamentary assurances, and official references. The goal is to promote clean, clutter-free working environments through systematic record reviews and scrap clearance.
