This article delves into the details surrounding the detention of several Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) protesters in Central Delhi due to violation of prohibitory orders. It also discusses the statements made by Additional Commissioner of Police Rajeev Ranjan regarding the lack of a request for permission, the Flag Code of India, and the sharing of personal police personnel information on social media.

On Tuesday, the Delhi Police arrested several participants from the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) who arrived to take part in a proposed protest in Central Delhi. This action was taken due to their violation of prohibitory orders issued by the authorities. According to Additional Commissioner of Police Rajeev Ranjan, no request for permission to hold the protest had been received by the police.

In a conversation with the media, Mr. Ranjan stated that neither had the police received any specific list of individuals concerning the protest. He emphasized that the Flag Code of India has been officially notified, and it mandates the utmost respect towards the national flag. Additionally, the Delhi Police had previously shared a social media post detailing precautions for citizens while hoisting the national flag.

Mr Ranjan further pointed out that certain social media accounts have been circulating photographs and videos of police personnel performing their duties, accompanied by their personal information. The Additional Commissioner described this practice as inappropriate and illegal.

The Delhi Police detained several CJP protesters who attempted to participate in a proposed demonstration in Central Delhi, as they were in violation of prohibitory orders issued by the authorities. Earlier, the Delhi Police clarified that it had not received any request for permission to hold the protest.
