The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) carried out three separate operations between September 29 and 30, 2026, seizing a combined total of 15.59 kg of Amphetamine, Cocaine, and Heroin. Five individuals were arrested under the NDPS Act, 1985.
On September 30, 2026, DRI, in collaboration with the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), intercepted a Mahindra Thar at Ujjain–Dewas Toll Plaza in Madhya Pradesh. The driver attempted to evade capture by breaking through a barricade and speeding away. After a high-speed chase lasting approximately 1.5 hours, the vehicle was apprehended near Bicholi Mardana, Indore. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 7.116 kg of Amphetamine hidden within the spare tyre. This operation marked DRI's second seizure of the day involving Amphetamine.
In a separate incident on September 29, DRI intercepted an Indian passenger arriving from Doha at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, based on specific intelligence about Cocaine smuggling. The examination of his cabin baggage revealed seven chocolate tubes that appeared unusually heavy. Upon opening the tubes, officers found 207 light-yellow oval-shaped capsules ingeniously concealed among the chocolates. A total of 4.9 kg Cocaine was recovered and seized.
In the third operation on the same day near Phillaur on the outskirts of Jalandhar, Punjab, DRI arrested a person carrying 3.574 kg Heroin. Personal search of the suspect resulted in the recovery of three packets concealed inside a blue backpack kept on his lap. The substance tested positive for Heroin using a field-testing kit.
