The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has announced an extension of the 'New Amnesty Scheme, 2025', initially scheduled to end on September 30, 2026, until December 31, 2026. The decision follows a review of representations from various stakeholders.
The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has decided to extend the 'New Amnesty Scheme, 2025' for an additional three months, from October 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026. This extension is in response to representations received from various stakeholders.
Initiated on October 1, 2025, the 'New Amnesty Scheme, 2025' aims at reducing the backlog of court cases and promoting compliance under the ESI Act. The scheme offers a structured mechanism for out-of-court settlements of legal disputes with ESIC.
The extended period allows employers to settle ad-hoc assessments by paying actual contributions and interest, without incurring damages. It also permits the withdrawal of cases where employers have already paid dues, subject to payment of 10% of disputed damages. Cases filed by ESIC for non-submission of records or delayed payments, which were later complied with, will also be withdrawn with court permission.
Court cases filed up to March 31, 2025 are eligible under this scheme. The extension provides additional time for employers and insured persons to avail themselves of the benefits of the Scheme. All concerned stakeholders are encouraged to make use of the extended window before it closes on December 31, 2026.
