Madhya Pradesh government signs MoU with the National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar, to establish a campus in Bhopal, offering training programs for officers and employees of the Prison Headquarters and Police Headquarters.

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, has emphasized the growing significance of digital systems and cybersecurity in everyday life. With an aim to ensure the continued service of digital and cyber systems for the benefit of society, there is a pressing need to expand education, training, and research activities in the fields of cybersecurity and forensics. To this end, Dr. Yadav views the establishment of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, as an important step, initiated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

On Tuesday, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the NFSU and the Madhya Pradesh government at Mantralaya. This agreement will facilitate training and skill development for officers and employees of the Prison Headquarters and Police Headquarters in Madhya Pradesh.

In addition, a Relationship Agreement was also signed between the NFSU, Gandhinagar, and Rajiv Gandhi Technological University (RGPV), Bhopal, for the smooth functioning and coordination of the university’s Bhopal campus. The MoU and Relationship Agreement signing ceremony were attended by Commissioner, Technical Education, Shri Awadhesh Sharma; Director, National Forensic Sciences University, Bhopal, Shri Rakesh Kunwar; and Vice-Chancellor, RGPV, Shri Alok Sharma.

The NFSU was established by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on September 28, 2020. Its mandate includes education, training, research, extension, and services in the fields of security and defence. Regional campuses have been set up in seven states across the country, with around 40,000 personnel having been trained thus far.

The state government had decided on July 1, 2025, to establish a campus of the NFSU in Bhopal. The permanent campus will be developed on 10 acres of land within the RGPV campus. At present, a temporary building is being utilized for operations. The Bhopal campus commenced on September 22, 2025, with one undergraduate and one postgraduate program. Currently, 84 students are enrolled at the campus, where B.Tech in Cybersecurity and M.Sc. in Digital Forensics and Cyber Security programs are offered.
