Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reveals plans to open government colleges, establish a minor forest produce processing unit, and develop a Tiger Safari in Mandla, among other initiatives.
During a training-cum-awareness programme in Mandla district on Sunday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced several development plans for the region. He emphasized the importance of nature-worshipping tribal communities and their contributions to forest conservation in Madhya Pradesh.
In addition to the previously mentioned initiatives – opening government colleges in Mohgaon and Ghughri, establishing a minor forest produce processing unit in Mandla under the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and developing a Tiger Safari and Zoo for wildlife tourism – Dr. Yadav also announced plans to revive paan cultivation in Mandla, which was once an important source of livelihood for local residents.
Regarding dairy farming, the Chief Minister stated that Madhya Pradesh currently contributes around 12% to India’s milk production and aims to raise this share to 20%. To achieve this, a large number of dairy cooperative societies will be established throughout the state, including in Mandla.
Chief Minister Yadav also highlighted the government’s commitment to honoring tribal heroes and preserving their cultural heritage. He noted that cabinet meetings have been held at sites associated with Rani Durgavati, Raja Shankar Shah, Kunwar Raghunath Shah, and other tribal icons.
The Chief Minister distributed bonuses and dividends totaling over ₹62 crore to tendu leaf collectors and members of forest committees. He also laid foundation stones for various development projects worth nearly ₹460 crore, including government high school buildings, a new Integrated Collectorate building, a nursing college building, and a Tribal Multipurpose Marketing Centre (TMMC) building.
