Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a dual US-Canadian citizen and general counsel for Sikhs for Justice, claims that the FBI and RCMP have advised him about a new threat to his life. This comes after an Indian man pleaded guilty to a plot to kill Pannun in February.

According to The Globe and Mail, on August 20, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun was visited by FBI agents who urged him not to travel until the threat was resolved. He was also advised to inform the agency if he intended to travel. The alleged plot details remain undisclosed by both the FBI and RCMP.

Pannun told The Globe and Mail that he is 'not afraid' of death threats but hopes for action from the governments in Washington DC and Ottawa regarding Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged threats to US and Canadian sovereignty. This concern arises due to an Indian man, Nikhil Gupta, who pleaded guilty in February to a plot to kill Pannun, allegedly on orders from an Indian government employee.

Gupta's sentencing is expected on November 20 by a federal court in Manhattan. The indictment identifies Gupta's handler as Vikash Yadav, who reportedly worked for the government of India's Cabinet Secretariat, which houses India's foreign intelligence service.
