Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel addressed the seventh convocation of Raja Mansingh Tomar Music and Arts University in Gwalior on Friday. During his speech, he urged students not only to take pride in their talent but also to consider their degrees as a commitment to serving society and the nation.
The Governor emphasized the importance of Indian classical music and its connection with religion and spirituality. He stated that it helped purify the body, mind, and soul.
Furthermore, Shri Patel pointed out that art and culture form the foundation of society and the nation, and development remains incomplete without strengthening them. He expressed his belief that India’s true cultural resurgence would be driven by the artistic dedication, sustained efforts, and contributions of its youth.
Governor Patel encouraged students to pursue research, innovation, and new discoveries in music and the arts and contribute to India’s vision of becoming a developed nation and Vishwaguru by 2047. He also emphasized that education becomes meaningful when imbued with cultural sensitivity.
Education should be used to support the upliftment of talented children and those from remote, rural, poor, and disadvantaged communities. The Governor also stressed the need to preserve and promote folk music and traditional art forms that are gradually disappearing amid technological progress.
Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge) Shri Dharmendra Singh Lodhi and Shri Atul Kothari, National Secretary of the Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, also emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting Indian art and culture. They both urged students to maintain a lifelong spirit of learning and uphold human values that connect people.
