The Gujarat Police has filed cases against three unrecognised political parties and individuals linked to them, as reported by multiple sources. The crime branch's action follows complaints by the Income Tax Department regarding bogus donations of nearly Rs 1,870 crore.
The Gujarat Police is taking decisive steps to combat financial irregularities within political parties, following reports from various news outlets. On Friday, the crime branch registered cases against three unrecognised political parties based on complaints by the Income Tax Department. The FIRs were filed due to allegations of bogus donations totaling nearly Rs 1,870 crore received by these three parties, leading to losses for the government.
The three Gujarat-based unrecognised political parties in question are the Aam Janmat Party, Bharatiya National Janata Dal, Garib Kalyan Party, New India United Party, Satyawadi Rakshak Party, and the Swatantrata Abhivyakti Party. Of these, the Bharatiya National Janata Dal, Swatantrata Abhivyakti Party, and Garib Kalyan Party have been named in the FIR.
According to Deccan Herald, four persons linked to the Bharatiya National Janata Dal, three associated with the Swatantrata Abhivyakti Party, and eight individuals connected to the Garib Kalyan Party have also been booked. The police allege that these parties received large donations without engaging in any political activity and routed the money back to the donors after deducting a commission.
The FIR alleges that the three parties committed fraud by claiming tax deductions on the basis of these donations, thereby defrauding the government. The Bharatiya National Janata Dal is alleged to have caused an estimated loss of nearly Rs 343 crore, while the Swatantrata Abhivyakti Party and Garib Kalyan Party are said to have caused losses of around Rs 155 crore and Rs 62 crore respectively.
The FIR against the Bharatiya National Janata Dal names its president Surendrakumar Vishnubhai Gajera, general secretary Vipul Solanki, treasurer Ronaksinh Chavda, and auditor Adil Saiyed as main accused. The FIR against Swatantrata Abhivyakti Party names office-bearers Mehul Kumar Kumar Maheshkumar Khatri, Surendrasinh Parshottamdas Tiwari, and Mukundbhai Chandansinh Rathod. In the Garib Kalyan Party case, party president Neeraj Kumar Kshatriya, secretary Dhananjay Singh Rajput, treasurer Dhiraj Kumar Kshatriya, office-bearers Avinash Chandrakant Tiwari and Pradip Singh Parihar, and chartered accountants Kuldeepchandan Parvatsinh Tapariya, Ashokkumar Radheshyam Shah, and Pankaj Agarwal have been named.
