The Home Ministry is set to initiate a pilot program for specialized training of Civil Defense Master Trainers by the Indian Army. This move aims to establish a robust Civil Defense Network in India.
The Home Ministry has announced a first-of-its-kind pilot initiative to bolster Civil Defense preparedness. This undertaking will provide specialized training to Civil Defense Master Trainers through the Indian Army, under the auspices of the Directorate General of Fire Services, Civil Defense and Home Guards. The goal is to establish a vibrant Civil Defense Network within the country.
In the initial phase, this three-day training will be conducted across 12 States and Union Territories by the second week of November this year. A total of 600 Civil Defense Master Trainers are proposed to be trained, with 50 from each participating region. The list includes Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier announced the vision of creating a robust Civil Defense network during his address from the Red Fort this year. The initiative aims to upgrade the readiness of Civil Defense personnel to handle contemporary security threats, hostile situations, and emergencies effectively.
