Dr S Jaishankar calls upon the United Nations to address its shortcomings and take a proactive role in resolving international crises during his speech at the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan.

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has emphasized the need for reformed multilateralism, stating that large parts of the world cannot be excluded from global decision-making. He made these remarks while speaking at the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan in New Delhi today, marking the 75th anniversary of Chinmaya Mission.

During his speech, Dr Jaishankar urged the United Nations to recognize its shortcomings and limitations and take a proactive role in resolving international crises. This call was made in the presence of UN Resident Coordinator in India, Stefan Priesner, who also shared the dais with him.

The Minister also addressed ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia, highlighting their far-reaching consequences on people, societies, and economies beyond the conflict zones. He expressed India's stance on dialogue and diplomacy as the sole solution for global conflicts, expressing readiness to work with international partners towards peace.

In discussing economic challenges, Dr Jaishankar pointed out that the Global South is currently facing a crisis of finance, fuel, food, and fertilizers. He called for greater international cooperation to reduce economic risks and ensure diversified supply chains.

Dr. Jaishankar described terrorism as a deadly threat to peace and said its use as an instrument of statecraft is unacceptable and cannot be justified. He called for stronger global resolve and zero tolerance to counter terrorism in all its forms.
