The Indian government is conducting specialized training for Civil Defence Master Trainers across 12 states and UTs, focusing on modern warfare, drone awareness, emergency response, communication, and coordination.
In alignment with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision, India is embarking on a unique joint training initiative with the Indian Army to bolster the nation's Civil Defence Network. The Directorate General of Fire Services, Civil Defence & Home Guards (DGFSCDHG), Ministry of Home Affairs, in collaboration with the Indian Army, is spearheading this initiative. The training program aims to prepare Civil Defence Master Trainers in various states and Union Territories (UTs) through a three-day specialized course scheduled for the second week of November 2026. The participating regions include Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The training will encompass three main areas: modern and hybrid warfare, drone awareness and air-raid threats, protection and emergency response, critical infrastructure protection, fire safety, Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) awareness, casualty management, search and rescue; communication and coordination, emergency communication, cyber hygiene, digital resilience, civil-military coordination, and incident command. The training model employs a structured Master Trainer system, where each trained Master Trainer will subsequently educate 100 Civil Defence Volunteers in their respective regions. This cascading mechanism has the potential to equip 60,000 Civil Defence Volunteers across the participating states and UTs, significantly expanding the initiative's reach and impact.
