The Indian Navy's First Training Squadron has arrived in Colombo, Sri Lanka for a port call. The visit aims to foster professional interaction between the two navies and community outreach activities.
On October 27, 2026, the ships of the Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron (1TS) — INS Tir, INS Sujata and Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Sarathi — arrived in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The ships were accorded a ceremonial welcome by the Sri Lanka Navy in the presence of a naval band. This port call provides an opportunity for professional interaction between the two navies and engagement with sea trainees undergoing training with the First Training Squadron.
During the visit, Director General of Naval Training, and Commander, Eastern Naval Area, Sri Lanka Navy, interacted with the sea trainees onboard the ships. This interaction offered an opportunity to engage with the trainees and exchange perspectives on professional naval training.
The port call will feature a range of professional and training engagements, including cross-training visits and a Passage Exercise (PASSEX). These activities aim to exchange professional knowledge and gain exposure to each other’s practices and procedures, while promoting mutual understanding and strengthening coordination between the two navies.
Community outreach activities and ship visits for the public will also be conducted during the port call. These engagements will provide opportunities for interaction with the local community and familiarisation with the Indian Navy’s ships and training activities.
