Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasizes efforts to boost farmers' income through initiatives in animal husbandry, horticulture, and natural farming during Balram Krishi Mahotsav in Guna district.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, addressing the Balram Krishi Mahotsav organized at the Guna Mandi premises on Tuesday, announced plans to promote animal husbandry and horticulture alongside agriculture in Madhya Pradesh. The state is renowned for its coriander and rose production, particularly Kumbhraj coriander of Guna district which is expected to receive a Geographical Indication (GI) tag soon.
To economically empower farmers, efforts are being made to increase their income by encouraging horticulture activities. The state has set a target to expand the area under horticulture by 20%. In addition, Dr. Yadav highlighted benefits from initiatives in animal husbandry, emphasizing improvements in livestock breeding and setting a target of increasing Madhya Pradesh's milk production share from 12% to 20%.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also appealed to farmers to give up social evils, avoid unnecessary expenditure on marriages and other occasions, refrain from selling agricultural land, and pay special attention to their children’s education.
A large number of young people are engaging in advanced cattle rearing and dairy development activities. Guests at the event visited an exhibition showcasing government welfare schemes and agriculture-related activities, while cultural performances added color to the occasion.
Officers and employees who were honored on Independence Day were also felicitated during the programme.
