Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav addressed a training-cum-awareness programme in Mandla district on Sunday, transferring a bonus of ₹36.17 crore to 9,04,126 tendu leaf collectors from eight forest divisions. The Chief Minister announced several major developments for the district. Government colleges will be opened in Mohgaon and Ghughri. Considering the large-scale collection of minor forest produce in the district, a minor forest produce processing unit will be established in Mandla under the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. A Tiger Safari and Zoo will also be developed in Mandla to provide visitors from India and abroad with a local wildlife tourism attraction. The Chief Minister announced that paan cultivation, once an important source of livelihood for local residents, will be revived in the district.
Chief Minister Yadav also highlighted the need to protect the rights and interests of tribal communities and tendu leaf collectors. He emphasized the importance of ensuring they receive their rightful dues and due recognition for their hard work.
