Madhya Pradesh Commits to Continuous Power Supply for Delhi Metro Until 2044

During his visit to New Delhi, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that Madhya Pradesh will ensure uninterrupted power supply to the Delhi Metro until 2044. The 750 MW Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Project was recognized for its historic milestone.

During a recent visit to New Delhi, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav utilized the Delhi Metro for travel from the airport to the venue of the 7th International Conference. While presenting Madhya Pradesh’s significant initiatives in promoting renewable energy, visuals of his journey on the Delhi Metro were displayed.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced that Madhya Pradesh is committed to achieving the national target of 500 GW of non-fossil-fuel-based energy capacity by 2030. He emphasized the state's advancement in renewable energy, energy storage, and green industrial development.

The 750 MW Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Project was recognized for its historic milestone of establishing solar power tariffs below those of coal-based electricity for the first time in India. The project received the World Bank Group President’s Award for Excellence, and its case study is taught at Harvard University.

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy, Bhutan’s Minister for Energy and Natural Resources H.E. Lyonpo Gem Tshering, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Energy Shri Anura Karunathilaka, Additional Chief Secretary, Renewable Energy, Madhya Pradesh, Shri Manu Srivastava, along with energy experts, policymakers and representatives from the industry from India and abroad, were present at the inaugural session of the 7th International Energy Conference and Exhibition 2026 held in New Delhi.

Minister for New and Renewable Energy Shri Rakesh Shukla stated that Delhi Metro Director General Shri Pramit Garg expressed gratitude to the Madhya Pradesh Government for continuously supplying electricity to the Delhi Metro without requiring any investment from the Metro authorities.
