Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has revealed plans to bolster religious and spiritual tourism within the state. The development of Shri Mahakal Lok at Ujjain's Mahakaleshwar Temple has led to a considerable increase in devotees and tourists.

In addition, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav pointed out historical connections between Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, including Samrat Ashoka's earlier administration of the Avanti Mahajanapada, whose capital was Ujjain. Around 2,200 years ago, Samrat Ashoka ruled from Pataliputra and had served as the administrative head of this ancient kingdom.
He also noted that Sambha, the son of Lord Shri Krishna, is associated with the construction of Sun temples at several places in Bihar. These historical and cultural links reflect the ancient ties between Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.
Religious tourism in Madhya Pradesh has seen substantial growth, the Chief Minister added, attributing this progress to the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He also highlighted how this development fosters goodwill and cooperation among states, providing opportunities for knowledge exchange and improved facilities for citizens.
Dr. Yadav also acknowledged Bodh Gaya's significance as a major pilgrimage destination for Buddhists and other devotees. Facilities are being developed at religious destinations across the country, with Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, Varanasi, and Somnath among them.
