
The Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission is considering webcasting polling processes, conducting simultaneous polling through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and real-time reporting via mobile applications. The Commission is also emphasizing the importance of maintaining voter confidence during local body elections.
State Election Commissioner Shri Manoj Shrivastava addressed a state-level training workshop for Deputy District Election Officers and Master Trainers, urging participants to resolve all doubts and share valuable suggestions. He emphasized that even a small lapse in election-related work can become a cause of distrust.
Shrivastava stated that local body elections are comparatively more sensitive, and the role of election officials is extremely important. He highlighted the importance of ensuring voters have complete confidence in the latest election technologies.
The Commission is considering webcasting of the polling process and conducting detailed discussions on simultaneous polling through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Shrivastava said that EVMs have been provided on rent to Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Sikkim, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan for local body elections.
The State Election Commissioner said local body elections are the laboratory of democracy. Madhya Pradesh has introduced several innovations, including 50 percent reservation for women in local body elections. He emphasized that confidence should reach grassroots level, as it makes election management easier.
Deputy Secretary Sushri Sanju Kumari explained the objectives of the workshop, and other officials and staff were present.
