International Sports Complex under construction at Nathu Barkheda, Bhopal

This article provides details about the ongoing construction of an International Sports Complex in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, including the completion status of various facilities and upcoming events.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav recently inspected the progress of the International Sports Complex being developed at Nathu Barkheda, Bhopal. The project spans across 136.296 acres at a cost of ₹985.76 crore, making it one of the largest sports infrastructure projects in Madhya Pradesh.

In the first phase of the project, an athletics stadium with a synthetic track, warm-up track, and pavilion, along with a hockey stadium featuring an international-standard synthetic turf, pavilion, and practice field have been completed. The Asian Women's Hockey Championship is scheduled to be held on the synthetic hockey turf in October-November this year.

A synthetic athletics track is being constructed in accordance with the standards of the World Athletics and the Athletics Federation of India, along with a 10,000-seat pavilion for hosting international competitions. A football stadium is also being developed at the centre of the athletics track.

The second phase of the project includes the construction of an indoor sports complex, an all-weather swimming complex, hostel facilities with accommodation for 150 boys and 150 girls, and an equestrian cross-country track. The work is scheduled for completion by November 2026.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also interacted with candidates participating in the ongoing Army recruitment drive at the Sports Complex.
