Meghalaya Power Minister Metbah Lyngdoh has resigned from the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) cabinet following the exit of 11 UDP MLAs.
Meghalaya Power Minister and United Democratic Party (UDP) president, Metbah Lyngdoh, has tendered his resignation from the MDA Cabinet with immediate effect. This decision comes after 11 out of 12 UDP MLAs left the party. In a statement, Mr Lyngdoh stated that he submitted his resignation letter to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma following careful consideration of the political situation and recent developments within the party.
With Mr Lyngdoh now being the sole UDP MLA in the Assembly, the Central Executive Committee will decide on future action after consulting with party leaders and office-bearers. Despite speculation suggesting pressure to step down, Mr Lyngdoh maintained that his resignation was an independent decision taken post due consideration.
