The three organizations have signed an agreement to promote clean sport values in classrooms across India by using the 'Sports Values in Every Classroom Toolkit' and making video modules available in multiple languages.
Today, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Education, and UNESCO exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bring clean sport values into classrooms across India through the 'Sports Values in Every Classroom Toolkit'. The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi, and Director of UNESCO’s Regional Office for South Asia, Dr Tim Curtis.
Union Minister for Education Pralhad Joshi stated that the MoU would help address the longstanding gap between education and sports. He emphasized the need to strengthen grassroots opportunities and create better pathways for young athletes. The minister also pointed out that students who performed well academically did not always participate in sports.
Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, underscored the importance of sporting excellence and integrity being intertwined. He added that talent, discipline, and hard work are vital for sports success, but integrity, fairness, and credibility are equally important. The ministry also mentioned that the toolkit’s video modules will be made available in 13 Indian languages to reach students across the country and build a stronger, fairer sporting ecosystem.
