The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has reported significant progress in the cultivation of various crops during the Kharif season, with specific details provided for each crop.
As per the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the area covered under Kharif Crops has surpassed 1000 lakh hectares as of 14th May. The breakdown of crops includes rice on over 379 lakh hectares, oilseeds on more than 184 lakh hectares, shri anna cum coarse cereals in over 172 lakh hectares, cotton on more than 107 lakh hectares, pulses on over 108 lakh hectares, sugarcane on more than 58 lakh hectares, and jute and Mesta on more than 6 lakh hectares. This significant coverage underscores the agricultural growth in the country.
The Ministry also reported that as of 14th May, rice had been cultivated over an area of 379 lakh hectares, with oilseeds sown on more than 184 lakh hectares. Shri Anna cum Coarse cereals were grown in over 172 lakh hectare area, while cotton was cultivated on more than 107 lakh hectares. The Ministry further reported that pulses had been grown on over 108 lakh hectares of land, sugarcane on more than 58 lakh hectares, and jute and Mesta on more than 6 lakh hectares.
This extensive cultivation indicates a thriving agricultural sector and food security in the country.
