Minister Kiren Rijiju addressing parliament

Kiren Rijiju appeals to all MPs to participate in discussion on the Exam Reform Bill, which includes strong penal provisions for paper leaks and aims to accelerate criminal trials.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has urged all Members of Parliament to actively participate in the discussion on the Exam Reform Bill. In a social media post, Mr Rijiju expressed that after listening to the voice of the young generation and the historic decisions taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the future of students, he appeals to all MPs to participate in the discussion. The bill, which is set to be introduced by Union Minister Jitendra Singh in the House, includes seven key amendments designed to plug enforcement loopholes and establish dedicated judicial mechanisms. According to the listed agenda of Lok Sabha, the bill has strong penal provisions to deal with any case of paper leaks. In addition to this, it seeks to significantly overhaul the 2024 framework by instituting strict time frames for both investigations and judicial proceedings.

State governments and Union Territory administrations will be empowered to designate Courts of Session as Special Fast Track Courts dedicated exclusively to trying offences under the Act. According to the provisions of the bill, proceedings in these courts must be conducted on a day-to-day basis, with trials mandated to conclude within three months from the date the chargesheet is filed.
